Homely & Traditional
Our home is designed to have a homey feel for the residents but we are developing a programme of refurbishment and will improve the Dementia aspect of our care home for the residents with themes for each corridors and communal areas. Redesigning the garden to become a more inviting and sensory outside room for the residents.

Home Comforts
A programme of refurbishment aims for residents’ bedrooms are to be beautifully decorated with modern, bright fittings and furnishings throughout, and are all equipped with call bell facilities and adaptability
to have close monitoring equipment such as floor and chair sensor alarm.
We encourage our residents to personalise their rooms with pictures and photographs, they are welcome to bring personal items to ensure their
comfort.
Our Gardens
Our home is fortunate to have rural views around the home due to its location on the edge of Exeter. We have a spacious outside garden area with a woodland walk, wild meadow and developing the courtyard to have areas for residents to grow their own and use this space to stimulate all of the senses. We encourage relatives to spend to time out in this area with your loved ones and enjoy the wonderful space. We utilise this space
in the event of an outbreak of infection to enable visits to continue. There are 2 interconnected sections of Barton with part of the building being listed and a purpose built extension at the rear.

Intimate & Personal
Barton Place is registered to accommodate 42 residents but we only have 41 bedrooms, we feel it is not appropriate for Dementia residents to share a bedroom. There are telephone points in the extension and all rooms have a TV point. We can support the residents to have the use of IPad for family connections like Facetime with prior arrangement and we are working on having internet connectivity for all bedrooms and areas of the home.
